The Daily Show

Yeah, this post qualifies under "Coming Late to the Dance." But I have to admit, I have great admiration for the work they do over at "The Daily Show", "With John Stewart". The show never shines brighter than during a presidential election year. This year they have dubbed their coverage, "Indecision 2008" and, boy, are they on top of their game. The best part about the daily show is there ability to filter through hours of pundit coverage by major news sources to find clips and quotes to support their joke... and that's what is so amazing. Their satire is so dead on at times, that it is in and of itself... a news story. I site the video below as a great example.

The Jimmy Desk!

A functional piece of furniture to me, is one that offers streamlined simplicity. This "JIMMY DESK" from the folks at Modern is sleak, simple and gorgeous. It really is ideal as well for a GTD freak. The desk is also small enough (59LX28D), that it will allow you to fit it into a very small space without giving that office an over crowded feel. If you are laptop user, it may be a perfect solution for your small apartment. The small drawer on the right hand size features customizable organizers pictures above, so you can customize the drawer to suite you needs. It also has a "lid" so the drawer can also work as a return for the desk, if you need just a little more space.

A functional piece of furniture to me, is one that offers streamlined simplicity. This "JIMMY DESK" certainly offers that. One of the best features is the gilled paper organizer cut into the top, so you can really keep the line of the desk simple and not crowd the desk top with an unnecessary desk organizers. This desk seems like a dream... until... you see it's list price for $4,800.00. That's really expensive for a desk. I will now cry myself a river, because this desk now seems so very far. I'm off to Craig's List with my fingers crossed.

The Next Craze in Pants!

And you thought Cargo Pants took the world by storm. I wonder how long it will be until these beauties are all the rage in Milan. My guess would be... never. Yanko Design has a post on their website about the "Peripheral Pants". Yes, pants that have a built in computer keyboard. The keyboard is not the only tech built into these pants... Yessir! They also have built in speakers at the knee joints. They also have a joystick which hides behind the zipper. (Insert inappropriate joy stick joke here). I have to say that this is about as ridiculous and non functional an idea as I have seen since the Hamburger in a Can. To think... someone actually paid someone to come up with this idea.

Random Tid Bits: Issue #4

All Right, after a little break... a little Random Tid Bit Action for all y'all! Enjoy the tasty delicacies below!

THE FLOBOTS: The Record is called Fight with Tools, and if you haven't heard the catch radio hit, "No Handlebars" then you are probably in a whole since everyone is requesting the Shizzat out of this catch little tune, but here's the better part... the album is very very good, and worth checking out. They're like... the Beastie Boys meets Cake.

THERE WILL BE BLOOD: It has hit the stores and DVD racks in mass production... hey, if you did not catch this when we recommended it around Oscar time... then do it now, so you can finally understand where the term, "I drink your Milk Shake" came from!

ZOLOFT MOM: Fellow blogger and sister of a friend writes this blog, and it's a great spin on the whole "Mommy Blog". She's self deprecating, sarcastic, clever, and fun! Check this one out!

WARNING (Pic): You may be offended by this blog post, you may laugh... all I can say is... My heart goes out to this kid in spades.

Mad at IKEA

Okay, first off, I admit, I'm a fan of IKEA. I like some of the products very much, and they are affordable. In fact, half the things you see on the DIY shows are products from IKEA. However, I am a bit miffed at them, and here is my tale!

I am remodeling several portions of the house. My wife and I decided to do one big purchase of all the products we needed from IKEA. So, we went to the great Dutch Furniture Warehouse on Saturday and we spent over two hours there. It was quite the trip. We purchased new cabinets, shelves, lamps (those are important) hardware, etc. etc. etc.

The day of purchasing pretty much wiped us out. There is a lot of heavy lifting to be done, and we vowed to tackle the project Sunday. Which we did. Sunday I had my tools, I had my box cutter and I was ready to spend a lot of time with Hex Style Screws and little tiny dowels. I whipped through our new Cabinets for the bedroom in record time and installed them. I then moved on to the two wall lamps we purchased, which went into place fairly easily.

That's when I noticed, they did not come with light bulbs. This was step one in my journey to madness. So, we find out standard light bulbs do not work, you need a specialty light bulb. Ugh! So, I journey down to the Home Depot, which was closer than the hour long drive to IKEA. I search for the bulb, and I am given a bulb by an employee who 'swears it will work'. That bulb of course does not. So, I am forced to make the trek down to IKEA. The wife was kind enough to tag along. I get there, and I begin searching for the bulb... everywhere... instead of a nice and neat little rack with bulbs say... at the front of the damn building... I am forced to do what I like to call the IKEA SPRINT. It's where you have to run through half the damn building because they have to create a shopping experience, instead of easy access to product. When I get to the lighting... the bulbs are not next to the lamps... they are strewn all over the "Illumination" department, which I remarked to be not a very illuminated floor design. So, with a little help we grab some bulbs from a bin marked E12 40w, and make the purchase. As we are leaving, my wife checks the bulbs.... they are not E12 as the bin said, but E26... My Blood Pressure spikes. I head back to the returns and askthem for a refund. I then ask if they might be nice enough to go get the bulbs for me since it was there error that caused the problem... they politely refuse. So, I'm back to the IKEA sprint... I get up there, and I find that they no longer have the E12 as an incandescent, I have to buy the new power saver kind, which are three times as much... I then sprint back down to the check out to find they closed most of the check out lines down to two, and there are 30 customers waiting to get out.... AAAAAAAAGGGGHHH!

Here's my suggestion to everyone at IKEA. Create an area by the front door for hardware and small items like LIGHT BULBS! So, I can get in and get out! I do not want to spend my whole weekend smelling your swedish meat balls! I just want to get in and get out! Or you can solve this problem, by including your whacky bulbs in the damn packages for your lamps! HULK SMASH!

Battle Star - Returns to High Ratings!

So, the final season of Battle Star Galactica (the new version, not the Lorene Green version) season premier debuted last Friday night and, OH, MAMA, was it a solid debut of what producers are calling the final season in the hit SciFi Show. (Before, I go any further, why is this show ending? Why are the schedulers at Sci Fi retards?) It debuted to very very good ratings, and it appears the audience is raring to go for this knock down drag out between Humanity and the Cylons! I myself prepped by watching the made for T.V. move RAZOR the other night, and that was a lovely amuse bouche for the double enchilada plate series premier. I like this show, and it will sucketh when it is gone. Oh, and if you are a lady, and you are reading this and saying to yourself... "This is a guy show". Keep in mind that Battlestar consistently tests high in the female 25 - 54 demographic. 600,000 women tuned in for the season premier alone. So, there's plenty of sweaty clanky fun for everyone!

Check out Blue Lounge

Greetings! I have been bouncing around a bit checking out all the new high end organizational tools on the internet. I am in the midst of several DIY projects around the house and evaluating some solutions to things as mundane as cable management has proved to be rewarding and fun. In this process, we have fallen in love with a little website called, Now Blue Lounge is a pretty simple site, they offer a few products for sale. However, the products are well designed and effective. I myself have purchase the Cable Yo Yo, and I think it is incredibly useful. So, we recommend you head on by and take a peak. I'm sure the folks at Blue Lounge wouldn't mind a shout out.
